February 19, 2008 Unlikely as it might seem looking at all the snow piled up on West Western Avenue, the second year of Taste of Muskegon is only four months away. Organizers and downtown boosters promise the second Taste of Muskegon June 21-22 will be bigger and better than the inaugural event. Last year, 11,000 visitors were drawn to downtown Muskegon to sample offerings from local restaurants. This years event will partner with Miss Michigan, the Muskegon Film Festival and the Big Rigs/Big Trucks Show that is seeking a downtown location for its event this year. The event will be expanded to include a Baker College Food Expo Stage for food demonstrations from the college's culinary arts program. Baker is expected to have its new downtown culinary facility under construction by June. The number of vendor booths for this year will increase from 20 to 25. All of the vendors who participated last year couldn't say enough about the event, said chairman Allen Serio. And we heard immediately after the event of many others who would like to participate. The event planned for West Western Avenue is organized by Muskegon Main Street, a downtown promotions organization and will raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan. How to join Interested vendors should visit Taste of Muskegon's Web site at www.tasteofmuskegon.com to download an application. © 2007 Muskegon Chronicle. Used with permission |
