$90 for 4-class series, $81 for ACWL-Nuveen members
$25 for one class, $22.50 for ACWL-Nuveen Members
In the first session of Intro to Photography – Equipment and Camera Settings – students will get to know their equipment and begin to understand their camera setting choices. Led by photographer Denise McElrath, students will explore what equipment is needed based on your interests, as well as discuss basic settings such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and various program modes.
Students should have or borrow a camera with the option to use manual settings, such as a film SLR, DSLR, or Mirrorless camera, to use in this class.
The Intro to Photography class will be held the second Tuesday of each month, September – December, 2021. Sign up for all four classes or pick and choose the ones you’re interested in! You can sign up for all four via this class posting – ACWL-Nuveen staff will then manually register you for the remaining three classes. You will get a confirmation email for each of those classes once that is done.

About the Instructor:
Denise McElrath first started exploring photography in a highschool yearbook class. She was then accepted into an after-school photography club where she learned how to use a 35mm film camera, develop film, and print in a darkroom. As an adult, her hobby grew into owning a portrait studio and teaching adult education classes.
We kindly request that all students wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status.
ACWL-Nuveen classes are supported by the Nuveen Benevolent Trust, the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts
