Holidays in the City is a collaboration between the Business Improvement District, the Downtown Development Authority, the City of Muskegon, and business owners to bring you the very best of our downtown during the holiday season. Every weekend from Thanksgiving through Christmas, there are fun and exciting holiday events taking place! Explore below all the great things downtown Muskegon has to offer this holiday season!

Holidays in the City kicks off on November 30 with Small Business Saturday and the community Christmas tree lighting in Hackely Park.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Santa and his reindeer will make a special visit to Hackely Park for the community Christmas tree lighting on November 30! Holiday activities will begin with the Hackley and Hume Holiday Tours Kick-Off at 4pm. Enjoy free tours of the Hackely and Hume historic sites, free ornament decorating, cookies, and hot chocolate! Santa’s reindeer will be available to meet outside of the Hackley Public Library on Third Street starting at 5:00pm. Santa himself will arrive at Hackely Park to recieve the keys to the city and light the Christmas tree at 6pm. Santa will be available to meet and take photos with the kids afterwards at Hackley Public Library!
Entertainment provided by the Muskegon Civic Theater will start on the Hackely Park stage at 5:30pm. After the tree is lit, the MCT children’s chorus will lead everyone in a community sing along!
