Climb Muskegon South Pierhead Light

May 29, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Climb the 48 foot tall Muskegon South Pierhead Light and experience the unique feeling of traveling back in time. Up two spiral staircases and a shipman’s ladder, this ironclad tower built in 1903 boasts unparalleled views from the lantern room at the tower top. Knowledgable, passionate volunteer Lighthouse keeper docents share the history of Muskegon’s lighthouses and other faces of the area’s maritime importance. Tours are available Mondays, Fridays & Saturdays. Contact below for private tours. No reservations are necessary and first come are first-served. The tour lasts about 15 minutes if there is no wait upon your arrival and the last tour is offered 15 minutes prior to closing. Parking is available at the beach or alongside Margaret Drake Elliot Park. Walk between the NOAA and USCG stations on the public visitor walkway to gain access to the pier. Climb a Michigan maritime castle as you help preserve our area lighthouses! Memberships and private tours are available by emailing [email protected] or by calling 844-MLIGHTS.
