White Lake Chamber Music Festival

August 7, 2020 @ 8:00 pm - August 15, 2020 @ 8:00 pm

The White Lake Chamber Music Festival Announces a Stunning 11th Season!

The 11th annual White Lake Chamber Music Festival will present exceptional performances of great music throughout the White Lake area. Excellent programming, world-class artists, and inspiring classical music performances will take place and in beautiful, historic churches and in local businesses. What once was mostly available only in metropolitan centers, is now a yearly experience in Montague and Whitehall Michigan.

From August 1st through 9th, local, national, and international performers will come together to bring big-city experiences, making the fine arts more accessible to this community. Almost 20 varied events and performances are presented in just 9 days, bringing the joy of live performance to the White Lake area.

The Festival opens with a spectacular trumpet and organ concert in Muskegon, featuring two Muskegon natives: organist Tom Wikman and Detroit Symphony’s Principal Trumpet Hunter Eberly!

The Chicago based, world-renowned Avalon String Quartet returns to the White Lake area as the Festival’s quartet-in-residence. This quartet, described as “…deeply musical and sheerly gorgeous”, is the cornerstone of the Festival, presenting three concerts and open rehearsals. On its schedule is an all-Beethoven concert, a performance of the Schubert Cello Quintet with cellist Marina Hoover, the Brahms Piano Quintet with pianist Andrea Swan, plus much more!

Hear the Detroit Symphony Trio, featuring flutist Jeff Zook, Alexander Volkov violin, and David Ledoux, cello, performing works by Haydn, Godard, Vivaldi, Faure, Girtain, and more.

A Piano Sonata Recital featuring Andrea Swan, Chicago’s own well-known chamber musician, collaborative pianist, orchestral keyboard player, soloist and teacher will perform works of Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, and Chopin.

An exciting festival duo, cellist Marina Hoover and pianist Andrea Swan, will perform the Beethoven A Major Sonata, the Debussy Sonata. Granados Intermezzo from Goyescas and the Brahms Sonata in e minor.

Children’s Concerts are popular events for families during the Festival week and will be featured at both the Montague Public Library and the White Lake Community Library.

Daily Salon Concerts are among the many highlights of the week. Talented musicians will be featured daily at 4:30 p.m. at the Book Nook and Java Shop. Guest artists include DSO Duo Alexander Volkov violin, David Ledoux, cello; 4 Hand Piano – Bryan Uecker and Steve Thielman; Vireo Trio- violinist Michelle Vallier, cellist Erin Wang, and pianist Bryan Uecker and others.

The Festival is truly a unique, collaborative, community event. Churches and businesses take part by graciously host performances. In only ten years, over 230 concerts, edifying lectures, recitals, master classes, youth concerts, young artists’ competition winners, and open rehearsals have been held. The world’s greatest music wonderfully played, combined with the soft summer weather, beaches, and spectacular sunsets, make the White Lake Chamber Music Festival a vacation destination for an ever-growing audience from near and far.
